China Telecom Corporation Limited was awarded “ESG Leading Enterprise Award” - the category of market capitalization over HK$20 billion in the third ESG Leading Enterprise Awards 2021 organized by Bloomberg Businessweek/Chinese Edition, a leading business magazine in the Greater China region offering in-depth coverage with local insights and a global perspective, and Deloitte, a leading global professional services provider.
The ESG Leading Enterprise Awards 2021 aims at encouraging enterprises to adopt ESG practices strategically to cope with the “new normal” business environment and continue fostering a sustainable business culture. A panel of professional judges including economists, financial analysts and accountants evaluated submissions based on participating enterprises’ ESG governance mechanisms, goals and performance, as well as their environmental and social initiatives, etc., following a rigorous judging procedure advised by Deloitte that ensures credibility and objectivity.

China Telecom Corporation Limited was awarded, for the 14th time, “The Best of Asia – Icon on Corporate Governance” in the “Corporate Governance Asia Recognition Awards” this year, organized by Corporate Governance Asia, a prestigious regional journal on corporate governance. Mr. Ke Ruiwen, Executive Director, Chairman and CEO, was accredited the "Asian Corporate Director Recognition Award".
“Corporate Governance Asia Recognition Awards” honors corporates who have outstanding performance on various aspects including quality of management, their business model, growth prospects, financial performance and relative position in their industries. China Telecom Corporation Limited’s 2020 Annual Report “DIGITALISING the FUTURE” earned two accolades at the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) 2021 Best Annual Reports Awards, including “Excellence Award for H Share & Red Chip Entries” and “Certificate of Excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting”.
Organized by HKMA since 1973, the Best Annual Reports Awards was designed to honor the publication of accurate, informative, well-presented and timely annual reports by both general companies and non-profit making and charitable organizations. The judging criteria include conformity with accounting standards, the disclosure requirements of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx) and Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, provision of information relating to ESG, overall presentation, understandability and clarity, summary of past results and highlights, management discussion and analysis, indications of prospects, promptness of reporting and accessibility on the organization’s website. This year, a total of 82 reports were reviewed by the Panel of Adjudicators which comprised of accounting and financial professionals, company secretaries, scholars and veteran corporate communications professionals.
China Telecom Corporation Limited was voted as “Most Outstanding Company in Hong Kong – Telecommunication Services Sector” in Asiamoney’s “Asia’s Outstanding Companies Poll 2021” (“the Poll”). In addition, the Company was awarded “Overall Most Outstanding Company in Hong Kong” among all winners from different sectors in Hong Kong.
Organized by Asiamoney, a leading financial magazine, the Poll invited fund managers, buy-side analysts, as well as bankers and ratings agencies to nominate the most outstanding company. Voters are asked to consider a company’s overall performance including its financial reporting, management team, investor relations and CSR initiatives. In total, 1,071 voters took part in the voting and over 5,787 votes were received for publicly listed companies across 13 markets in Asia this year. The results recognise 190 companies as being the most outstanding for their sectors and in their markets.
China Telecom was voted as “Most Honored Companies in Asia” in the All-Asia-Executive Team Poll 2021 by Institutional Investor, a leading financial magazine. The Company obtained this accolade every single year in the poll’s 11-year history. The poll received votes from a total of over 3,500 portfolio managers and buy-side analysts and nearly 600 sell-side analysts to vote for distinguished companies and executives in the region.
