China Telecom Corporation Limited was awarded "Listed Company Awards of Excellence 2019 - Main Board" by Hong Kong Economic Journal (HKEJ) as recognition for the Company's outstanding achievements in corporate governance, business performance and development prospects.
"Listed Company Awards of Excellence" has been organized by HKEJ for four consecutive years, to recognize listed companies with excellence in financial results, value creation for investors and good corporate governance. The award has stringent assessment process. By adopting a professional stock tracking system, candidates of the award were short-listed according to four criteria, including relative stock performance against Hang Seng Index in the same period, number of recommendations made by professional stock commentators and industry leaders as well as average annual profit growth. The short-listed companies were further reviewed and assessed by a judging panel of professionals from different sectors.
China Telecom Corporation Limited ranked No. 1 in IR Magazine's 2019 "The Global Top 50 - Best in Communications Sector". The Company attained this award for the second consecutive year.
"The Global Top 50 awards" was based on IR Magazine's annual surveys of investors and analysts across the world for its regional awards programs in Brazil, Canada, Europe, Greater China, South East Asia and the US. For the Global Top 50 list, companies' performance in the regional awards were assessed across six categories: best investor relations officer, best corporate governance, best financial reporting, best investor meetings, best use of technology and best overall investor relations. The best companies were then identified and included in the Global Top 50 list. One company from each sector was presented with "The Global Top 50 awards".
China Telecom became the winner in the global communications sector for the second consecutive year against strong competition from other finalists which are all communications giants. The Company further stood out as being a winner from Asia when winners of 7 out of the 10 sectors are North America and Europe-originated.
China Telecom Corporation Limited was honored with "The Best Listed Company" in the ninth "Golden Bauhinia Awards". In addition, Mr. Ke Ruiwen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, was honored with "Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year".
The "Golden Bauhinia Awards", which was jointly organized by Hong Kong Tai Kung Wen Wei Media Group with government bureaus, renowned industry organizations, chambers of commerce and financial institutions in Hong Kong and mainland China, was determined based on relative and integrated assessments of listed companies and their senior executives, as well as securities firms in Hong Kong and mainland China. Its objective is to provide a credible platform to enhance the image and status of Chinese companies in the international arena and facilitate economic cooperation among the cross-strait four regions.
China Telecom Corporation Limited's 2018 Annual Report "Intelligent Transformation to Co-share Value of Innovation" earned two accolades at the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA) 2019 Best Annual Reports Awards, including "Excellence Award for H share & Red Chip Entries" and "Citation for Environmental, Social and Governance Disclosure".
Organized by HKMA since 1973, the Best Annual Reports Awards was designed to honor the publication of accurate, informative, well-presented and aesthetically pleasing annual reports by both general companies and non-profit making and charitable organizations. The judging criteria include conformity with accounting standards, the disclosure requirements of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx) and Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, provision of information relating to ESG, overall presentation, understandability and clarity, summary of past results and highlights, management discussion and analysis, indications of prospects, promptness of reporting and accessibility on the organization's website. This year, a total of 83 reports were reviewed by the Panel of Adjudicators which comprised of accounting and financial professionals, company secretaries, scholars and veteran corporate communications professionals.
China Telecom Corporation Limited's 2018 Annual Report (print and online versions) "Intelligent Transformation to Co-share Value of Innovation" has won in total six platinum awards and five gold awards, and ranked No.3 of "Top 100 Reports Worldwide" (No.1 in Asia Pacific) in LACP 2018 Vision Awards by the League of American Communications Professionals LLC (LACP), marking one of the best award-winning records of the Company since its participation in the competition. In addition, the Company's print Annual Report has earned 3 gold awards in 2019 International ARC Awards.
This year, the LACP 2018 Vision Awards drew nearly 1,000 submissions from a broad range of countries and industries as well as organizations with various scales, and yet only one out of five received award-level recognition. LACP commended the winning annual reports for demonstrating an outstanding focus on shareholders, their interests, and their need to understand the strategic and tactical decisions made by companies, delivering a highly applicable and persuasive message.
The International ARC Awards, also branded as the "Academy Awards of Annual Reports" by financial media, is the world's largest and independent international competition honoring excellence in annual reports and corporate communications. The Awards are globally recognized, providing a platform for the highest standards in the annual report industry.
China Telecom Corporation Limited was voted as "Most Honored Companies in Asia" in the 2019 All-Asia-Executive Team Poll organized by Institutional Investor, a highly regarded financial magazine. The Company received this accolade every single year in the poll's nine-year history. The poll, organized to recognize top companies and executives in the region, received votes from over 1,800 buy-side investors and over 600 sell-side analysts. Moreover, China Telecom and its key executives also ranked 2nd place in multiple categories in the "Telecommunications" sector:

China Telecom ranked 168th in "The Forbes Global 2000" for the Year 2019, which was based on a composite ranking from four metrics: sales, profit, assets and market value.
China Telecom Corporation Limited has won five awards in total by The Asset, achieving remarkable results. The Company was accredited with "Platinum Award - Excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance" in the poll of "Corporate Awards 2018" by The Asset.
